The holiday region of Achensee is located in the federal state of Tyrol. Tyrol is one of the nine federal states in Austria. The neighbouring (federal) states are Vorarlberg in the west, Salzburg in the east, Germany in the north and Italy in the south, along with Switzerland in the south-west.

Climate:
Central European weather prevails in Austria, with warm summers and cold winters. The annual average temperature in July is 20 degrees; in winter it is around 0 degrees. The highest temperature in summer is around 35 degrees; in winter the temperatures dip to around -20 degrees. The best time to travel is from June to October and January to April (winter sport).

  • Bus transport in the region of Achensee. With the AchenseeCard, which each guest receives from their landlord upon arrival, travelling by bus within towns in the Achensee region is free of charge. Buses run every hour. Latest bus timetables are available here.

  • Parking in the region of Achensee – pay and display car parking and short stay parking zones in various towns. A parking meter is required for short stay parking zones.

There are public toilet facilities in towns, some are subject to a charge.

Travelling with a dog:
Almost all accommodation providers ask for a contribution towards the costs of accommodating pets. Around EUR 2 to EUR 15 per day is standard. Dogs are to be kept on a lead in public.
In public transportation a muzzle should be worn. Dog poo must be removed by the owner. At some paths in the region there are dog toilets with plastic bags.
