A summer filled with events
Achensee not only offers its guests the very best outdoor adventures in the summer but also lots of events which are beyond compare.
The creative thinkers in the region have in the last few years come up with lots of interesting, and also exciting, events. For example there is a pirate battle on Tyrol’s largest lake, Achensee Attack, which takes place every year on the first weekend in Ausgust in Maurach. This “battle” has become a very special crowd puller and children’s festival.
Away from the fun and exuberance, Achensee is also known for its sporting events which also attract international sporting greats to Achensee. At the Karwendelmarsch which takes place every year on the last weekend in August, it is not just thousands of hikers who march 52 kilometres from Scharnitz through the Karwendel Mountains to Pertisau, mountain runners do battle over this distance in what is a unrelenting race. At the same time the Karwendelmarsch is also a successful ambassador for the active protection of the natural surroundings in the Alps.
People also hike through the 24-hour hike. Brave hikers line up every year to tackle a new route, and hike for 24 hours while enjoying the natural surroundings at Achensee. Food is provided along the route.
On the first weekend in September nearly 1.600 runners line up to make their way around the lake during the Achensee Run, the loveliest panoramic run in Austria. Year in, year out, this internationally recognised running event attracts stars from the running scene to Achensee.
In addition to these highlights lots of smaller events take place throughout the year at Achensee, such as brass band concerts, association events and much more. You can learn more about these events in our Event calendar .
